Eligibility
Joining the Nova Scotia College of Art in 1962, Professor Emeritus Horst Deppe (1929-2011) was instrumental in the development of the Design Division; “Horst Deppe put the ‘D’ in NSCAD” as former president Garry Neill Kennedy said. Horst’s reputation and guidance enhanced the growth of the Design Division and the college itself. The Canadian Encyclopedia lists Horst among the European-born designers who came to prominence in Canada during the 1960s and ’70s. In 1990, Horst was recognized with the highest honour that the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada can bestow, GDC Fellowship.
