Eligibility
Beginning with the 2027 award, eligibility alternates each year between middle-grade & YA literature (for readers aged 8 to 17) and picture books (for readers aged 3 to 8). Previously (2017 to 2026), eligibility had alternated annually between YA literature and children’s literature broadly.
